I'm gonna go with Emmanuel Moseley. He is coming into his prime. Despite losing Tartt and D.J. I think the defense will be as good or better. I see him getting a few picks this year.

I like the pick, too bad we'll likely lose him in 2023, UFA, might want what Ward or Reed got, not sure they can justify paying two CBs that kind of money, not when you have young guys like Ambry, Lenoir, Womack, & Castro-Fields all signed thru 2024 or 2025. Sucks to lose talent, but that's what the NFL is all about, it's a business, can't keep everyone, I already miss DJ, hope Davis can fill in when healthy in 2023, great pick to get a big NT that we can redshirt for 1 yr.
Hoping for Kinlaw to breakout this season.

Yeah we are going to lose Moseley next year bc he will definitely want close to 10 mil per year. Kinda like the Rams losing Williams their cb2 this off-season. The only way we keep him is he's affordable and the only way that happens is if he misses games due to injury or Verrett takes most of his snaps. Ambry Thomas may take that spot if he shows any improvement.

Same goes for Greenlaw or Al Shaair. We have Burks as a possible replacement or DFF.

Hopefully we can keep Moseley as a cb2 if we had to choose between a LB3 or a cb2
I think they are not sure about extending Eman because they don't even know if he is going to be a starter in 2023 and you aren't going to give a depth player over $10 Million per season. They signed Ward to be the #1 CB and they want to see if Ambry can be that #2 outside guy. They would rather Ambry win that job because he is cheaper and will be alot cheaper for the next 3 years. This is why I think they haven't given Eman an extension yet, Even though it would actually create cap space for this season.

What if we just have a flood of talent and we get TWO handfuls of breakouts….it's not that wild an idea in that Azeez and Aiyuk have already proven it to me. Jay moore also. But we could have a couple rd 6-7 or UDFAs not only make the squad but have break out yrs, besides.

Given that we really had only space for 4-5 additional guys on the squad, and then we loaded up at OL, EDGE, and CB/S….hey , we could see a bunch of guys have breakout yrs. Whoever does make it will have some very good talent playing right beside him…or around him, in the case of Trey.

I cannot express how excited i am still just at the beginning of PS. (Ok, OTAs). We are definitely forcing some borderline OLs out and bringing in new and better blood. Same at DBs, and even wiht loss of DJJones, et al on DL, we have some really nice guys in the wings that i can't wait to see them play.

This is strongest i have felt our team this early in many a yr. There is just so much really good competition at virtually all slots, that it is inconceivable to me that we don't have a substantially better team this yr than last.

Dont' expect this early on with Trey getting acclimated as starter. But he has a really good cast to work with, and overall, this team just has to be better than Last yr, esp at OL, DB, EDGE, with more than just a couple guys having breakout yrs.
Totally agree that we have a very strong team coming into the 2022 season.
We lost DJ Jones, Laken Tomlinson, and Kwan Williams - I think either Banks or Moore can replace Laken. Kinlaw coming back should take care of losing DJ Jones. Also getting the two rookie CB's as well as Talanoga's and Ambry's development should take care of losing Kwan.

Injuries are always a factor every season. So I'm wondering (knock on wood) who's the first to be hit with it.
I'm going to go with a dark horse. While I think Aiyuk will become the primary I have a feeling Jennings is going to be the breakout player as Trey's security blanket. He's not going to have gaudy numbers but he's going to be huge for Trey and this offense.
A whole lot of players may end up breaking out for a whole lot of reasons.

Most notably because of making the leap in their second year to hopefully to recovery from injury.

Ambry just got better and better as the season progressed. I see him starting outside with Mosely kicking inside. With an even better DL play, he will make the big plays. Talanoa will play faster this being his second year and knowing the system and the NFL better.

Banks, if recovered, being next to Trent the Freak of Nature and at his natural position.

Kinlaw, again if healed from the injury bug, being next to AA who is finally at his natural inside position and Bosa, will get lots of one on one along with whoever is the other DE.

Of course Aiyuk, with Deboo and Kittle and maybe even Gray commanding a lot of attention.
I wouldn't be surprised if Spank Bank and Jaylon Moore are break out players. They just need some time to prove themselves. Put them both at G and move Brunskill at RT and see what happens.

Yeah, will be like Darious Williams, losing the #2 CB, cause you just can't pay both CBs the kind of money they'll end up with, not when you have a $15M a yr TE, $19M a yr MLB, $23M a yr LT, soon to be $25M a yr WR, & $30M a yr EDGE, plus AA at $17M a yr, C.Ward at $13.5M a yr, only so much you can do with the way the cap is.

Also, yes, we may have to choose between Azeez & Dre, I would keep 1 of Azeez/Dre and try my best to get Moseley extended, but it'd be tight again in 2023.

Agreed with both you 2.

I can see that happening, so much attention paid to Kittle, Deebo, & Aiyuk, JJ will be under the radar breakout candidate.

I agree with this too, Banks at LG, Moore at RG, not sure McGlinchey losses his starting spot, yet, not at a GTD $10.88M, I think Burford is the starting RT in 2023.

I would prioritize extending Moseley bc cbs are so so important even more so than LBs. I have a feeling Ambry Thomas will make him expendable but with the cap going up and the niners rolling over 25 mil after trading/releasing Jimmy G I hope we do it. After all, there are so many damn good wrs in our division let alone the nfl you need 3 good outside cbs. 2 to start and 1 for injury

Maybe I'll show the front office the clip from Rambo 2 with the hot Asian girl saying "you no expendable" Moseley. That might do the trick

It's going to be Mitch Wishnowsky's year. Dude going to be kicking all those uncatchable punts, they going to be doing fake punts with Mitch running for first downs and throwing TD's! Dude is about to set the league on fire
