Is Drake Jackson taking over the edge from the other guys slated to play opposite Nic?

  • If Nick Bosa says "DJax is doing things he could not do as a rookie", what does that mean for the other Edge Rushers?
Nothing
Maybe
He will be definitely be in the mix to be in on 3rd down and passing downs opposite Bosa. Turray will also be the mix. Ekubam could also get some time but he could also be released so who knows. I think Turray and Jackson will get the bulk of the snaps as 3rd down pass rush edge rushers opposite Bosa. I think Omenhiu will see action at DE on run downs and will see more action at DT on passing downs. Same goes for Hyder.

I could see them using Drake like Lord Fangio used Aldon his rookie year. Play him almost exclusively on obvious passing downs and ask him to do one thing, hunt the QB.

That's how I think he'll be used too. We should have a good rotation at DE, whilst managing to keep everyone fresh.

This
is the guy in good shape?

or will he be earning my nick name to him as Drake " Jenny Craig " Jackson !!! ???
I expect Drake to make team and be a back end part of rotation. I'd expect his snaps to increase as year goes along. But I could see someone ahead of him break out and make year 1 a very limited role
Longer term bookend is the hope I think. Realistically

I can see him being used just like Aldon was his rookie year.
like others have said he will be used like Aldon in his rookie year

he has gained a lot of weight since draft (good kind) bur due to how he was used in college he will be a lianbility against the run he will be in on passing situations

as for the comment Bosa made he is right in the sense Drake is a bit more fluid and has a more natural bend than Bosa but he also doesnt come close to the speed/size/strength combo Bosa has which made hima. day 1 starter/contributor
