Is Drake Jackson taking over the edge from the other guys slated to play opposite Nic?

he has gained a lot of weight since draft (good kind) bur due to how he was used in college he will be a lianbility against the run he will be in on passing situations

as for the comment Bosa made he is right in the sense Drake is a bit more fluid and has a more natural bend than Bosa but he also doesnt come close to the speed/size/strength combo Bosa has which made hima. day 1 starter/contributor

Also his technique is light years behind bosa as well
I think he will, but I don't think we should expect it as a rookie
Not yet. Kid has a lot of physical traits that the Niners love, but he needs some coaching on the technical side of pass rushing. The Niners have Turay, Omenihu, Hyder Jr and Jordan Willis competing with Jackson for the spot opposite Bosa. If Jackson can improve his technique, he will still have to out play all of these vets to get consistent reps. Niners d line will be coming at teams in waves this year. Should be fun to watch.

Agree that he has to prove himself or he's not seeing any snaps. Having said that, if he can beat out those guys you mentioned and be *the* designated pass rusher (a la Charles Haley) like on that loaded DLine back in '86 - I can see him putting up (Possibly) some Bosa-like rookie numbers.
It's a chance. They guy doesn't just have to be a designated pass rusher. Let's see how camp plays out. He might be our 4 down book end.
I think for the 1st half of the season we are only going to see him on 3rd down and maybe other obvious passing downs. He needs alot of work on his run stopping to be a 3 down guy right now. But that's ok, Dee Ford wasn't a 3 down guy because he wasn't good on run defense. We drafted Drake to get after the QB.
