I'm their primes, who was the better pass rusher out of these two

Bosa hasn't hit his prime yet. Hopefully it begins this year

Aldon was on pace to be one of the best pass rushers to ever do it!

Bosa is good but he's not Aldon Smith, but I don't think many pass rushers compare to Aldon Smith.

He single handedly took over games,

This

Agreed. He was just ridiculous going after the QB. I always thought he was better than Von Miller when they were both in their primes.

I had never seen anything like Aldon Smith from a size & athleticism standpoint it really just didn't make sense for him to be able to move like that.

Actually Aldon and Charles Haley were nearly identical size. 6'5" and 255 lbs. Both had similar 40 times 4.73 for Aldon and 4.8 for Haley. Their pass rushing abilities were also very similar. If Aldon hadn't had his drinking problems he could have had a similar career although I doubt he would have collected 5 SB rings. Cedric Hardman was also similar at 6'3" and 260 labs. He ran a 4.8 40 as well. Bosa is probably the least naturally athletic out of the bunch. He has worked hard to put himself in their class and his technique is among the best.

How could you lose with any of those 4 guys assuming Aldon hadn't had his issues.

Facts

But Aldon Smith worked just as hard as Bosa from a technical standpoint. I saw him in a pre-draft training video with Steve Mariucci (sp) and Richard Seymore (sp) he was just getting after it and soaking it all in. He was extremely good at using his strengths against his opponent.

Give me Aldon with Bosa's work ethic. Bosa to his credit has been held with a blind eye. Hill's play in the SB was the worst non call I ever seen.

Did you watch the 49ers vs Ravens super bowl?

Everyone was held in every phase of the game all day with no calls.
ok,, in that game,,,, cowboy had one arm.. aldon was hurt, brooks had one arm....... no offense to blame the refs.. but we had willis and his henchman bowman healthy and we decided to have them setting around playing checkers in pass coverage... then you throw in how horrible the coaches bungled second and goal from the five...... the coaches were entirely to blame for that loss

I did a quick internet search of Aldon Smith to see what was going on with him recently. Answer - nothing. No news. I think his career is over, specially after 2021 when he was arrested for being drunk for the millionth time.

Considering Aldon's highest sack numbers was around 19.5, and Bosa's numbers last year was 15.5 (and was held a lot) I think in the next few years - Bosa has a good chance of breaking Aldons' highest sack numbers. The jump from Aldon's first year to 2nd year sack total was about 5 sacks. Bosa's jump was about 6, and that was after the injury. While from a talent perspective, Aldon has the higher ceiling -- hustle always beats talent if talent doesn't hustle, I think Bosa can surpass Aldon's ceiling with his awesome work ethic.

This archived 1989 NY Times article lists him at 230 as well:

The depth chart now says that Charles Haley plays left outside linebacker. The force that his 6-foot-5-inch 230-pound body regularly creates in opposition

https://www.nytimes.com/1989/01/21/sports/super-bowl-xxiii-linebackers-haley-s-no-longer-just-a-lineman.html

They go off listed weights coming out of college. Nearly all linemen and LBs add weight. I stood next to Haley in street clothes and there's no way he only weighed 230. Pro Football Reference lists him at 252.. I'll go with them. It doesn't make much difference. They were all similar in the way they attacked QBs.

Bosa was still a beast after his ACL surgery
I don't know about the "in their prime" part because I don't think that either hit their prime yet, though Aldon never will, and Nick Joey still has the opportunity to.
