I'm their primes, who was the better pass rusher out of these two

Aldon was a BEAST. Pure talent! I believe he never reached his full potential. It's sad the addiction got the best of him during his prime.
Bosa has the motor and mental stability where we will be able to see him grow.

Bosa is good but he's not Aldon Smith, but I don't think many pass rushers compare to Aldon Smith.

He single handedly took over games,

This
Teams pretty much had to abandon anything but a three step drop otherwise its an automatic sack or hurried throw leading to bad things.
97 - prime
99 - not prime
Aldon could have been LT level great if he stayed off the booze. Man, it was so disappointing to see him crash and burn. Could have been the best 49er defensive player ever.
How about this comp.. which unit is better..

2019 49ers DL - Bosa, Buck, AA, Ford
vs
2012 49ers LB - Bow, P Willie, Aldon, Brooks

Why not DL vs DL?

Cowboy, Aldon, McDonald, Ahmad > Bosa, Defo, AA, Ford

I dunno man that 2019 line was fierce.

For sure, and it's close. But after going back and rewatching the 2011-2012 group and seeing how often they got home with just 3, I have to give it to them.

I trust your word. It does make sense as both Smiths were better than DeFo and Bosa during the 2019 run. But I would take a healthy Ford over Brooks and AA over McDonald

🤠 Was a machine. He was unreal. He deserved the defensive MVP in 2011. They gave it to ugly ass suggs.

The question is, "In their prime, who was the better pass rusher." Obviously, Aldon's numbers are jaw-dropping. He was amazing. By the criteria of this question, he was the better pass rusher.

Aldon wins the thread, but Bosa will play out his rookie contract and win a stupid-money extension, then take a shot at being the best pass rusher this franchise has ever seen.

We can't say the same for Aldon. I hope he, and the many people he's hurt, find some peace. He's one of the most tragic chapters in our team's history.
Give me Aldon with Bosa's work ethic. Bosa to his credit has been held with a blind eye. Hill's play in the SB was the worst non call I ever seen.

Agreed. He was just ridiculous going after the QB. I always thought he was better than Von Miller when they were both in their primes.

Did you watch the 49ers vs Ravens super bowl?

Everyone was held in every phase of the game all day with no calls.
