Agree. Seems the probable outcome unfortunately as they are most likely looking at a matchup against us in the first round either way. They are going to need to be as healthy as possible.

I hope they just destroy the Cards, so they can rest the starters. My main concern is sitting CMC, Purdy and Bosa. I'm sure Jordan Mason, Tevin Coleman and TDP could put a hurt on the Cards.

Yep. Best outcome.

I think the 49ers will have eyes monitoring the PHI/NYG game and if PHI starts to run away with the game, 49ers starters will get pulled mid-game.
if Minn wins.. then we need to win also

Oh that's right. MIN plays the early game so if they beat CHI then 49ers will go all out. If MIN loses, then the scenario I posted above about keeping an eye on the NYG/PHI might apply.

Who would the Giants end up playing if they do end up beating Phi and Niners get the bye?

MIN?

I guess it could either be the Eagles or MIN.

Both teams get into the playoffs using their current records and it would be like it was before the league added another week. Then move on to the final week of football.

No other way to do this.

The issue is if KC ends up 14-3 and Bills end up with 13-3, then does that mean KC gets the #1 seed because of they have more wins? This puts Bills at an unfair disadvantage where they have been #1 seed for most of the season and due to the cancellation, it now could shift them to #2 seed.

Note: Obviously the most important thing is Damar Hamlin's life. Everything is else noise in the grand scheme of things

I would assume the Giants don't want to travel across the country to play the Niners, so it might be beneficial for them to beat the eagles.

I know there would be complications, but with all the mathematicians involved in the NFL I'm sure they could figure it out.

I am spreading bad information here. I should never read news sites... We would have to be the #3 seed to play the Giants, which could happen but it not the most likely.

It helps that the Cards best defender in Budda Baker is out. If they can jump on Arizona early, the Cards players might be in offseaso mode by halftime.

Yup no sense in getting injured only to ruin your free agency market or 2023 off season. Plus I feel like Kingsbury just doesn't give a s**t already.

My suggestion here in the gameday thread is you play week 18 like normal. You then create a new week 19 in which there is one game CIN v BUF. You push the playoffs back 1 week. Teams would have to agree to rematch.

I guess that would mean no Bye or Probowl between the Superbowl, which I kind of like. I hate waiting that long for the Superbowl, although I guess it gives players time to rest and be their best for the big game.

There is talk of moving the season to a 19th week.

And all teams get a bye and the #1 seed would get two byes unless of course Buffalo gets the #1 seed. Buffalo would just have to live with having just one bye if they were to earn the #1 seed.

I think most teams probably wouldn't want 2 byes. Thats a lot of time away from playing football and keeping game ready.

Not only that, it still has unfair complications with the loser of CIN vs BUF in Week 19. One (possibly both) teams would have to play the following week while every other playoff team gets a bye week going into the playoffs.

The only way this extra week would work is CIN vs BUF plays week 18 and every other game from week 18 pushes to Week 19. NFL though already said Week 18 games are going to play as scheduled, so this rules out this option.

Ok, I was thinking of that, but if they already ruled it out, then back to the drawing board.

Cowherd is talking about giving both teams a tie. I think that sounds like the best solution. Otherwise, they play a condensed week, higher likelihood of injuries, so on. Let the Bills have the final say.
