Does Kyle want a franchise QB

I mostly blame fantasy football for this kind of thinking, lol.

The high ceiling type arguments are particularly contrived.

No offense to Trey, but there probably are WRs in the NFL with a decent arm that would have ran through NDSU

🤡

Unfortunately it's true. I think Jauan came into college as a QB. Watch him running through SEC defenses in college. Jauan woulda f**king wrecked those kids Trey played against

I guarantee Jauan could have walk into stacked run first offense at NDSU and won a FCS championship

Kurt Warner was drafted by Green Bay, and released in training camp by HC Mike Holmgren, QB coach Steve Mariucci, and offensive assistant Andy Reid. He spent years in Arena and Europe. Johnny Unitas was drafted by Pittsburgh and likewise was released before the season even started. Drew Brees was drafted by San Diego, but they were never that high on him due to stature and arm strength, and they traded him off. We all know Joe Montana went in the 3rd round, and Tom Brady in the 6th. Why?

All these teams were looking for a franchise quarterback, but that quest made them look for ideal "traits". In reality, they all were franchise quarterbacks, because of quick headwork. What do we mean when we are searching for a Franchise Quarterback? Ideal traits! It's BS. What separates the great quarterbacks from the good ones is always a quick mind, and adequate traits.

When you draft a qb for traits, the chances he'll have that quick mind are in my mind one in fifty. Furthermore, since it's primarily an inherent aptitude, it will begin showing itself very early in the football offense learning process. The converse is also true.

The idea that you don't have a franchise quarterback if you are not 6'4" and an athletic freak is wrong. That's what people are talking about with a quest for a franchise quarterback.

Here's my opinion. We know we have one in Brock. All indications are that we have determined we do not have one in Trey.

I'm ducking now behind my Roman shield. Take your shots.
lmao they spent three firsts on Trey Lance. Don't tell me they are not looking for a franchise QB.
That being said, the only QBs worth paying a bunch of money are Mahomes and Burrow. As long as you don't overpay for Dak or Daniel Jones it's fine.

100 percent.

My point is.. If we stumble into the true top 10qb.. Then yes we pay him. But I don't see us paying 55mil for Purdy. Lance has the upside to be a top 10qb but we may never know.

We have 1 to 2 years before that even has to be a real thought.
I dont see how one could even ask this question when Kyle traded away 3 first round picks to get a QB when he had a "serviceable" one already on the roster.

Of course he wants a franchise QB!!!

WTH man

Yea if title was changed from want to need I think there could have been potential for real debate. Perhaps a different one. At least dressed up differently
I guess he doesn't.

He still thinks defenses win championships in 2023. Lmfao. What are they even watching dude. This last Superbowl pretty much says it all.

And yeah, he will bench or release Purdy after this year probably when he isn't good enough. And then go after Kirk. It is so predictable.

I am willing to bet that Purdy is not putting up 30+ PPG after defenses look at the film on him this next season. And that shouldn't even be called a downer take. That's just being realistic.

Also, yeah, he may want a franchise quarterback. But hes not willing to put in the work to develop one. Of course everyone wants a guy like Mahomes or Jalen without putting any effort or time into it

Folks like you have been waiting on Kirk Cousins since 2017!!!! Going on 6 years.

Rumor has been going on for 6 years but it's still somehow someway "predictable"

Interesting you say this since Trey Lance was literally following the same path as Mahomes. Literally identical in which both QBs sat year 1 and both were given the stating QB job in year 2. Only difference being Lance got hurt in year 2. Same exact thing with Hurts. But somehow we create this false narrative that Kyle doesnt want to take the time to develop him? What crock of poop.

Should stay away from any mediocre Qb named Jones on principle.
He gave up 3 first round picks In hope of finding one.

A better question would have been "Is Kyle capable of finding a franchise QB?"

So far, I would say "No"
