We do need a guy to groom because George is getting banged up a lot lately.
I really like Sam Laporta (Iowa) and Strange (Penn St.) as possible options.

Too early to start thinking about Kittle's replacement?

I get this odd feeling Niners will move up to grab Mayer out of ND. Sad part is it will cost Aiyuk to do so.

For now, the need is to pair a TE who can really catch and block with Kittle. Whomever that is can learn a ton from George. When Kittle decides to morph to the WWE, you want the guy drafted now to take over the lead TE position as a natural thing rather than it be forced. Given this is arguably the best TE draft in at least a decade, I'd love it if they take two. It could be another decade before we see a draft this strong at that position. We need to say adios to Dwelley...he's just not the "other" TE we need.

This.
If you get a dude like LaPorta+, between Kittle, LaPorta, CMC, Deebo and BA, our QB may never need to throw a single pass past 7 yards ever again.

We need another kittle to play alongside kittle. Lol he's never had another stud TE opposite of him and our offense would be unfair.
i think our offense struggles most when kittle is out. The attention he gets is material. We need a higher quality TE to couple with him. The drop off between him and TE2 is quite steep.

We need a Kittle replacement, but we need a Kittle partner/back up more.

Yeach, I don't see Latu beating Kittle for the TE1 spot, but he can definitely be a good complement to Kittle in the two TE set, specially against teams with good DLines in the playoffs.
