Last 2 super bowl performances were both disgraceful down the stretch. It's been a long time

I hope Purdy can change those outcomes in the future. He came within one game of his rookie year in doing so.

The 2 that jump out are the Browns and the Lions. Those cities have had teams forever and still haven't won. The Browns lost their franchise when it moved to Baltimore who has won recently but the city hasn't been able to celebrate a SB win.
29 years for the Niners is a long time but at least they've been to 2 in this century after dominating the 80s. The Bay Area has had 3 world series titles and 4 NBA titles in the last 13 years so that helps take some of the sting away.

I was a sophomore in high school when Steve Young hoisted that trophy. If you would have told me the Niners won't win another for 30 years and counting I would have busted out laughing and checked your mental sanity. But here we are.

San Francisco 49ers vs Las Vegas Raiders
Trey vs. Jimmy
49ers vs Jets would be a good one as well

Bills should be top of the 2nd list because they did it 4 times consecutively! God, it was hilarious if you didn't care for the Bills!

I want SF to play in Vegas SB so bad. Sigh.
Oof 29 yrs. I remember it well. I had 0 worry we were gunna lose that SB. My thought was, "Guess we will get number 5". No doubts.
Nowadays, it's more like, who broke a mirror? Cause it feels like a curse. On fire then boom, cold shower.

The crazy thing is one could reasonably argue that untimely injuries derailed us in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2019, 2021, 2022.......
Give the 49ers the equivalent injury "luck" of the SB winner that year, and they would've been the SB winner themselves most likely.
2011 - #10 before Jimmy Garoppolo was why we lost to NYG had Tedd Ginn not gotten hurt.....if the game played out similarly, then def SF wins.....but the Niners could've also easily lost the game 17-3 if not for Vernon Davis being a timely star.
2012 - The Smith Brothers were not operating at full capacity in the postseason. Flacco was effectively better than Mahomes in this SB appearance because of the damn lack of pressure on his ass.
2013 - Mario Manningham injury in 2013? I dunno.....maybe Seattle was gonna need luck. Or possibly could blame it on Crabtree and the Niners taking forever to get their win streak going allowing Seahawks to have #1 seed.
2019 - Dee Ford, Weston Richburg very likely could've gotten the Niners over the top had they been fully healthy (and Richburg played)
2021 - Jimmy Garoppolo injured late in season and some OL issues
2022 - You know what happened
I really wonder what Kyle thinks in the macro about all this. Like, does he wonder if acquiring a certain player or types of players could get the job done even when stuff is failing left and right? Can a top 10 QB be enough to win it all with him at the helm and the defense?
It's insane to be this freaking good year in and year out and not close it out.
The only thing that's a somewhat legitimate excuse is this elite QB nonsense with Mahomes getting the preferential treatment, enough so that it makes a difference.
