Just looking @ all our contests thus far, Mason is averaging under 12 yards per game (167 total thus far).

So really curious what your projection for him this game looks like?

Marcus Williams (FS)

49ers toughest opponent in the regular season coming up.
Personally, I think that's a recipe for a blowout. Just two Purdy nice TD bombs and the Ravens are down 14 points and we unleash the nascar pass rush package. Best way to defeat the 49ers is to play the 49ers game - play keep away on offense and take away on defense. That's pretty much how we lost those 3 games this year, in my opinion.

I said this a little bit ago - we will come out throwing because they're going to be stuffing the line to stop the run. So we will open up the run game with the pass game.

I actually don't agree with Roquan Smith, but will see if that's true on Monday night.
I assume his reasoning is that if they shutdown the run game, they take away the play action game, and then we can't attack their linebackers.

But if I recall, the gravity of CMC/Deebo, even on short routes, can create vertical stretches on defenders... even if the running game isn't working.

Should be fascinating.

Stopping the run game to make us one dimensional? Do the Ravens think we still have Jimmy G?

For all of the putrid prime time games the league has rolled out this year, gotta give props to MNF for last nights and next weeks games. To have quite literally the best regular season game, on X-mas, on Monday night, I don't know that any fan of the game could ask for more than this. So amped for this one!!!

He's not wrong. If we're in 2nd and 10+, that's how we struggled in the past and the 3 losses. The problem is, very few teams can dictate that. If they do, they've got a good shot to win. If not and we stay on script, we win.

Agree, this is why Feliciano is important vs Burford in this game. Can't get into a lot of 2nd and 10+, Rather have 2nd and 7 or 8, instead of 10+. Run the ball right at those DT's that are dropping into coverage, that will teach them to drop into coverage.
I haven't SEEN them play. But looking at their box scores, it does seem like they're hard to run on. But at the same time, they're not infallible. Some teams have been able to have success. And I find that their tougher games are when opposing offenses can play a well-balanced attack:

  • Week 3 Colts: Moss, 30 carries, 122 yards, 4.1 ypc
  • Week 6 Titans: Derrick Henry, 12 carries, 97 yards, 8.1 ypc (albeit, that does include a 63 yard run)
  • Week 7 Lions: Gibbs: 11 carries, 68 yards, 6.2 ypc
  • Week 8 Cardinals: Demercado, 20 carries, 78 yards, 3.9 ypc
  • Week 10 Browns: Ford, 17 carries, 107 yards, 6.3 ypc
  • Week 11 Bengals: Mixon, 16 carries, 69 yards, 4.3 ypc
  • Week 14 Rams: Williams, 25 carries, 114 yards, 4.6 ypc

The Rams are schematically the most similar offense to ours, and they were able to run the ball.

If your team plays keep away ball well offensively, it will inflate the defenses run stopping statistics and can give you a false sense of a defense's ability to stop the run, when they really can't. That happened a lot under George Seifert's teams post 1994.

Literally the exact same thing can be said about stopping the Ravens run game and I believe even moreso in their case. Take away their run game and I basically would guarantee a Niner win. However, if you take away SF run game, the passing weapons might still beat you, which is what happened vs Dallas who shut down CMC but got picked apart methodically against the passing attack. Im not saying Baltimore cant win they certainly can, but I dont think the Niners have a one dimensional offense. They will have to pick their poison and get a bunch of sacks or turnovers for them to win.

Roquan is exactly right. When we can't run the ball Kyle's play calling seems to meh at best. It's been that way since he's been here.

No coincidence our 3 worst rushing days were CLE, MIN & CINCY Kyle has to call a different game when we can't rush the ball.

I just love how your oozing with positivity.

But I think he means Mason as a change of pace back. Hoping they mix things up with him.

This is where CMC will come in as a receiver too, he can get lost in the sauce hence his 7 TD's!!!
Edit: There's a thread about the #1 seed, I'll post there
