I don't want my QB going 3 weeks without playing. Niners are already getting a week off after this Sunday. It would be different if the team had nothing to play for but had a playoff game the following week. Then I would rest everyone if that was the case. I think the healthy starters should play the 1st half this Sunday. Then sit them.
That's BS. These guys are pros, just because they don't play 2 games, doesn't mean they won't be practicing for 3 weeks to get ready to play in the playoffs.
You'll quickly regret that decision when even one single starter is hurt and out for the playoffs. This team has proven they struggle when even one key starter is down. We need to sit EVERYONE and practice like hell the next 3 weeks and focus on a 3 game sprint.
It's a risk, but it's football. The players want to play. They work very hard to maintain a competitive mindset each week, and rely heavily on routine and familiarity. It's a tough decision for a coach, but you can't just shut it all down. Sure, maybe you sit a vet like Trent, but if the young guys are healthy, you play them, maybe not a full game. You practice the same, you prepare the same, you play with the same intensity. You don't treat this like anything but another game.
As much as some fans would like to see every key starter rest for 3 weeks, that's not NFL reality. The first round bye is enough for most healthy players. These guys are tough. you keep that edge, and routine. I think Kyle for the most part, treats this like a regular game until into the second half or so.
Also, like Kyle has stated, you can't sit everyone, you still have to field a team. Can't wait for Sunday so we can stop discussing this lol
