Most likely if it was an internal candidate they would have been hired by now.

I can play this game too

the truth is we don't know what is going on

A DC will be announced soon, prior to season starting according to my sources, LOL! As you said, we all know nothing, I'm glad they are taking their time to make sure they get this right. Everyone needs to stop speculating and wait.
Knbr is talking like Kawakami or someone thinks it's ulbrich.

but then maiocco will have news once he lands in Indy for the combine?
I'm assuming they will have someone by the start of free agency in March. The 49ers have definitely taken care of the loose lips of the past.

but who knows

Really hope it's not Staley. Have a hard time seeing our team hiring that dbag.

I haven't seen a fan yet who wants him so you know what that means lol

Yeah, I want no part of Staley (unless we're talking about Joe wanting to be the assistant O-line coach lol). I've been warming up to the idea of Ulbrich if we can get him out of New York. If it's an inside guy I would think it's between Bullocks and Sorensen. I personally would go with Bullocks myself, but with them being DB coaches the question they would have to answer is if they have a plan to fix the front seven.

Kawakami was speculating Ulbrich last week.

Yes. I would imagine that is the unofficial deadline at the absolute latest.
All this speculation when we know it's DC Kyle, same as last year

Yes I see that now thank you.

Will be interesting what maiocco has to add.
I just read that the top two might be Jeff Ulbrich or Gus Bradley. They are both currently DC's so we'd have to give them a assistant Head Coach position so its not a lateral move. Ulbrich played for us for several years also coached the LBs in Atl while kyle was there, also coached under Pete in seattle and Was Salahs DC.

So not only is Kyle one of the best OC's in the NFL, he's also one of the best DC's?

You said all season long the defense was playing great and that Wilks was doing a great job.

Now that they failed in the SB, you say Kyle's the DC and Garoppolo carried the team?

JFC man.

He's also a local guy that went to high school in the area. It's a lateral move so the Jets could block it. KNBR was saying that Ulbrich would bring a hard ass approach which may or may not sit well with the players.

I just don't get why if we can poach someone's DC, why not just go get Jim Schwartz? Heck go get Spags while we're at it!
