Teams run duo against us because we don't have anyone who can control the double teams. Jonny has talked about it multiple times. You need a guy who can do both, and we just don't have that guy and our defense will suffer because of it.

Hopefully Anderson can become an all around player.

We've never had guys like that though. I mean AA was the closest thing to a DT that could consistently beat doubles teams. It's always been about fast one-gapping DTs that can get that first step and have the LBers fill.

I think our LBer play has been bad and we got nothing as far as edge setting goes.

I wouldnt call it neglect. They overprioritized the pass rush. They hoped Kinlaw and others in the middle could hold it down but to no avail. People keep talking about us letting Buckner walk butbI felt that was always overstated. DJ Jones, while not ever being All Pro, was a bigger loss. The line Bosa, AA, Jones, Omenihu, Ebukam, Key, and Willis is what we should be aiming for. Great mix of skillsets. Could rush the passer and stop the run. The 2019 line was sexier, but man for man, 2021-2022 was better.

I think they tried to be more like the 2019 line by getting Hargrave (Buckner lite) and Floyd (Dee Ford).

Just invest in a run stuffer or two in the 4th -7th rounds and develop them. We need lots of bodies on low cost contracts to do this right.

Buck was never great at stopping the run. They even said that when they took Kin. They wanted a bigger body that can take on blocks. Turns out it's not that simple lol.

Campbell has been so abysmal.

DJ Jones was the guy and they haven't been able to replace him yet.

Who happens to be a FA in 2025 and should be available on a moderate contract. We should be able to sign 1-2 DTs and still save money post-Hargrave restructure and eventual June 1st designated cut.
We cant have enough DTs on our list

Gonna take more than $10M a yr IMO to sign DJ back, but we should have the money, they're gonna carryover at least $48M, likely $50M, plus over $4M in adjustments/credits, they should have in the $48M-$50M post Brock extension, which they need to do as soon as the season is over, no waiting, get that deal done ASAP once they can.

DJ isn't some 320+lb DT that's 2 gapping either. He's damn near the same size as Collins.

If folks are expecting a T'Vondre Sweat type DT, that's not gonna happen.

I'm cool if they bring back DJ. I would be more than fine if they drafted some DL help though. Collins and Anderson are keepers imo. I'd like a guy who can lineup inside and outside

That's great news.
