this guy and his versatility should really help solidify that side of the line. I also noticed that mckivitz was much better when he was next to a guard not named Burford. So I'm optimistic.
im really hoping the Michigan center we signed can become a good center for us. Brendel just isn't a great option.
I never have high hopes for guys who are projected highly and go undrafted in comparison to guys who went under the radar the whole draft process and sign on as a UDFA. Teams spend alot more time evaluating them and took him off their board for some collective reasoning
I get this take. I actually expect Nick Zakelj to push for that center spot before Nugent.
Well I don't expect nugent to do it this year. I meant more of get developed and take over, build up our pipeline of o line prospects - which I think has been crap.
then again, oline depth across the league has been sub par the last few years.
Definitely a fact. Fingers crossed that our depth can make a jump this year and that we can get 2 good starters out of this group (Puni, Kingston, Zakelj, Nugent). Three would make it a slam dunk, upgrading the middle of the OL.

My point is....... Puni is here to stay. I think he has potential to be a pro bowler for a long time. (at Guard)
So is he a bust or a bargain?

Where is he going to start?
Kyle is not benching McKivitz (mediocre) nor Banks (average to below-average) and Feliciano did well at RG replacing Burford (hot s**t).

If puni has a chance to start, it'll def be at RG. I think it's unlikely but I believe he will be first man up if banks or Feliciano go down.
also, I think banks is better than you're giving him. He isn't great but he's solid. This is most likely our last year with him, someone will overpay him and maybe one of our young guys take a run at his spot.

We will really need some of those guys to step up next year. We will most likely be looking for both a RG/LG after this season.
someone will over pay banks and then we will find out if puni and another young guy can step up.

Im hoping the 2025 starters at guard are already on the roster. It would show we can draft and develop some quality starters. Best case scenario, we are drafting guys for depth and to push the foursome of Nugent, Zakelj, Puni, and Kingston as well as getting two tackles.

Yeah, I hope that as well. You can tell that is our strategy. Hopefully it works out. It's my biggest concern cause when Trent went down - the o line was arguably the worst in the league. We need quality o line guys bad.
its amazing Brock did as well as he did with this line, it's actually historically good.

Publications had them rated high toward the close of last year. You're exaggerating.

Why not let him sit and develop? The guys we have got us to the super bowl last year so its not like Puni needs to play right away. In fact the guy who struggled the most in the super bowl (Burford) started right away and it seems like he could use some development time as well, even after two years.

We can upgrade, but we aren't going to get 4 new ones in 2025. We would need two firsts to even have a shot :(. To be honest, even though we haven't had a high amount of day 1 and day 2 picks invested in Oline, we have had at least one added in four out of five drafts. McKivitz, Banks, Burford, Moore, Zakelj, Puni, and Kingston. Out of seven guys, they gotta pull two starters out of that group. If they can't, I don't think pouring more resources into Oline is going to make a tremendous difference in a single draft.

He will sit this year and start assimilating into the OL in 2025.
