The way he was playing out there he looked like a veteran. He might be our best RG in decades

Watching pre season games used to give us a look at how the team was shaping up. We saw the vets play a little and then we would get a look at the young players. Now it's as exciting as watching paint dry. The only reason to watch is seeing how the new rules are working. We still see the young players but it's hard to evaluate them when they're playing a bunch of guys that won't even make the roster.

I try to tamper my expectations this early from rookie players. It was hard not to notice him yesterday though. He looked really good.

Rookie Dominick Puni has placed himself into strong contention to open the season as the 49ers' starting right guard. He appeared to play well on Saturday night. "I didn't get mad at him for anything, so that usually means that you played pretty good," Kyle Shanahan said.
