What an excellent breakdown. I enjoy watching stuff like that and it's even. Better when it's one of our own young studs
I mean he played well and should be the starter…he didn't really beat out anyone because of injuries though

TOO BAD if he did not beat anyone due to injury, but if he's good enough to be the starter then let him start.. bottom line, we need the best OL possible playing.. and if he happens to be a mistake, then we just move on..

He should be the starter. He won't give it back either. He's the best RG we have. Even if everyone is healthy.
He kinda did beat the competition since he looked better in two preseason games than Burford has ever looked.
Looked really good again. In run and pass blocking. Makes the seal on run plays to create the lane. Just everything really good.

And not just physically; Puni has infinitely more football smarts than Burford. He seems to be able to read stunts, games etc. very well especially for a rook. Guessing Puni would not have made the superbowl brain fart that Burford did.

Not to slight Puny because he's been sensational in pass pro...but that is a low ass bar. Lol

No he didn't, but head to head, Burford ain't outplaying this guy.
What I find amazing is he's already shown himself to not only be NFL ready, but ready to be an above average starter game 1. All without a single decent veteran lineman in TC to show him the way. Hopefully getting Trent back takes Puni's game up another level.
Gotta find us another one like him next draft....maybe an LT.
PS--does his skill set translate to LT at this level?
