It's real folks. This team is tapped out.. The defense has regressed. No nfc wins yet on the year. It's not our year. I would definitely look to be sellers at the trade dead line.

Last year's super bowl loss left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think things will ever be the same

You can only hear Kyle SAY the same things over and over... and hell Kyle MAKE the same mistakes over and over... before players start playing out of character, and try to do too much because they see the same result coming from a mile away. Lose focus.

That coupled with a Madden cover is a recipe for the crap sandwich we witness each week

Yeah going into each week thinking this is the turnaround game, its exhausting. We play well then blow the lead and lose it.
Its just not our year this year. We have SEA / KC / DAL in the next 3 games...we'll be lucky to come out of that 1-3.

Still plenty of season but this is why it drove me nuts that a lot of fans here were celebrating a second place trophy last year. Literally fawning over it(GGG). There's a legit chance we don't go back for a while. You gotta win when you can.

This is a false narrative. Nobody was celebrating losing the SB.
Were many optimistic because the team has done relatively well in recent years and is fairly talented? Of course. They've had a ton of bad breaks combined with bad performance so far this year.
I just don't understand the idea that being a bitter, hateful, angry fan because the team didn't win the SB is somehow the noble way to go here. You aren't some superior being because you b***h all the time.

Disagree... They've been saying all year that 2nd place is most definitely good enough and that you should be thankful for it. That if you disagree and aren't happy with 2nd place you're a "bitter, hateful, angry fan". There was never no glory in second place... Is it better than 7th? Sure but it's still not first. We still have the same hardware as 7.

Name one person who celebrated being 2nd place. Who on the entire web zone was happy we lost the Super Bowl?

Minnesota does look to be very good, but we were in it with them. The Rams are bad and we let them take the game away.

I can definitely see some of that. Some of our moves are baffling.
1. Why doesnt Moody kick it out of the end zone every time? Can he not do.it? Is he told to kick it short and let coverage make a play? I wanna know who is at fault.
2. Man coverage/redzone issues are killing us. I THOUGHT we drafted Pearsall, Cowing, and Guerendo to get ahead of that and counter how defenses were playing us. It made sense. And we chose this route over beefing up O-line. Fair enough. If that's the case, let the rookies play. Now granted, mistakes will come with that (Beal on special teams for example), but I'd rather get some young, talented players out there than just running with what we've been doing.
3. Is the motivation gone for this team? I hear the words but they don't havent acted like a team that wanted to win it all since February. I'm including the front office (contract situations), coaches (we are being outclassed in multiple games this season), and players (there's just been bad, bad play. I'm not buying the injuries excuse.
Can we still get it together? Sure. But there's no sign we actually are capable of doing so.

Got it. The one thing we have going for us is there is no NFC juggernaut. The team playing the best just plays good, sound football- something that if we were capable, we'd be sitting at 5-0 because there isn't a game this season we weren't capable of winning. If this isn't the year (like we are eliminated from playoff contention at some point) I definitely want to see a retooling of the team.

Definitely a SB hangover.
Keep in mind, that in 58 Super Bowl seasons, only twice has the loser returned to the Super Bowl and win it the very next season ('72 Dolphins and '18 Patriots).
Those Buffalo Bills teams of the early '90s are the only other ones I can recall to merely return to the Super Bowl after losing it. There might be some other teams I can't think of right now, but they're not coming to me.
The Eagles in hindsight did pretty well last year, but in fairness to us they hadn't been knocking on the door quite like the 49ers year in and year out.
2020 wasn't such a hot season for the 49ers either before the injuries racked up.
I envision the 49ers getting better and being a big threat later this season, but definitely appears to be a wildcard team at best right now....but so was 2021, which could never be as good as this current squad because no Brock and CMC....
However that defense though....
It's possible this season is write off, and next year the team can be what it should be.
I do see some silver linings for the team -- figuring it out at RB without CMC, and the emergence of Jauan Jennings....along with maybe figuring it out at LB without Greenlaw. We could see a resurgence later in the year.
It's hard to say. 2021 we kinda looked like garbage (swept by AZ I think), and then nearly won the NFC....

Elite defense overcoming trash special teams, Deebo playing out of his mind, and Mitchell.
Mason has proven to be a greater runner, but Mitchell 2021 > Mason 2024. Eli was just better all around. We have had 100 yard games by our top 3 receivers in the first five games so we know we can go off there. But idk it were overcoming the D. We have to score TDs on most drives.
