Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN Statement from MLB's Pat Courtney on alleged Lester foreign substance: "We cannot draw any conclusions from this video
"There were no complaints from the (STL) and the umpires never detected anything indicating a foreign substance throughout the game."

LOL at grease ball. There was nothing from Lester's pitches that showed any time of crazy downward movement that would come from grease on the ball. If the Cards had seen that they would have argued to the umpire and he would have been inspected. The reason is because there was nothing suspicious whatsoever on any pitch thrown.
What makes much more sense is that Lester put a tiny bit of pine tar on his fingers to make it LESS slippery and give him a grip in the cold weather.

Cardinals made enough bonehead mistakes in the field alone to lose the game, but his cutter was pretty nasty last night huh?
Oh well. Over last night. Gotta steal one tonight.

What's next, the Buchholz issue again on stuff on the tip of his cap?

That's good, but I wonder if he'll bein the lineup
the same way that Hanley Ramirez was.
That is what I'm worried about. I'm sure he'll play...but curious to see how effective he'll be.

But, the video is pretty shady. Whether it was grease or pine-tart...that's hard to say, but it definitely looks like he's got something there. If Giants were playin' against the Sox yesterday - I'd be pretty upset with what Lester did.

I agree that I would be ticked off. I just dont think Lester was putting anything greasy to make the ball move more. I think that would have been obvious with the motion of the pitches and the Cards hitters would have said something. Again, I really think it was pine tar or something sticky to get a better grip on the ball.

Yea, I mostly agree with you. I just feel...since this is the WS, there shouldn't be any leeway in enforcing the rules and he really shouldn't be using pine-tar to help grip the ball. It's not a big deal...but it's still not done.
