We could go after Parsons in place of Batum. He has injury issues, but can contribute as Batum would if he's healthy.

No thanks. I want to stay far, farrrr away from Chandler Parsons. Guy is not that good.

I doubt you get either to be honest. The Lakers are in a tough spot. Guys will make more money staying with their current teams and likely leave just to get to a title contender. The Lakers offer neither of these right now.

My gut tells me that both Whiteside and Batum stay with Miami and Charlotte.

Agreed. I also like Batum's veteran leadership and skill set better.

Dream offseason...$69 million to spend...

Hassan Whiteside – Max – 4 years $88 million ($22m/year)
Nicolas Batum – Max – 4 years $100 million ($25m/year)
Jordan Clarkson – Max – 4 years $58 million ($14.5m/year)
Total Spent = $62 million

Basically means the rest of the roster is going to be fodder and young nobodies. I would imagine we could get guys like Aaron Brooks, Jordan Farmar, OJ Mayo, and Wayne Ellington for the remaining $7 million or so. Maybe even that is being overly optimistic. Ha, if anyone threw decent money at Farmar then I'd lose my s**t.

PG D'Angelo Russell, Filler
SG Jordan Clarkson, Lou Williams
SF Nicolas Batum, Brandon Ingram, Nick Young
PF Julius Randle, Larry Nance
C Hassan Whiteside, Tariq Black

If Batum/Whiteside don't work out, plan B I think becomes...

Luol Deng – 3 years, $23m/year
Kent Bazemore – 4 years, $14m/year
Ian Mahinmi – 4 years, $12m/year
Allen Crabbe – 3 years $9m/year
Jordan Clarkson – Max – 4 years $58 million ($14.5m/year)
Total Spent = $63 million

Those numbers I HOPE are on the higher side than not, but I rather estimate conservatively in this instance. This would give us...

PG D'Angelo Russell, Filler
SG Jordan Clarkson, Kent Bazemore, Lou Williams
SF Luol Deng, Brandon Ingram, Allen Crabbe, Nick Young
PF Julius Randle, Larry Nance
C Ian Mahinmi, Tariq Black

Why this route? I think guys like Crabbe, Bazemore, and Deng are versatile and let us do multiple things in terms of lineups (Deng can play 3/4, Bazemore can play 1/2/3, Crabbe can play 2/3) and that kind of flexibility is nice. Think of a lineup like D-Lo – Clarkson – Ingram – Deng – Randle. Bazemore and Crabbe are young improving pieces and Deng gives us a veteran leader who seems to be a good sound dude. Mahinmi gives us a starting big who isn't going to need the ball in his hands and can do a decent job protecting the rim and bringing down boards. He's basically a better Tariq Black.

I know a lot of folks are screaming for Horford, Joakim Noah, Chandler Parsons, Harrison Barnes, Bismack Biyombo, Ryan Anderson, and etc. I don't think those guys would really consider us or will have better offers elsewhere (I don't see us giving max money to Parsons but he'll command it from someone). I'd love for us to have Anderson or Horford, I just don't see it happening. Trying to be realistic.

*Edit: Totally forgot we already have Lou and Swaggy. I totally expect the latter to be shipped for peanuts this offseason and the former to be shipped if we end up going after several young guards.

Yeah, a realistic scenario. I think Whiteside is young enough to where winning really isn't all that matters quite yet. Batum on the other hand, your point resounds well here.

I think it's why we'll see our roster filled out with old vets or young guns that we'll overpay for. <– That's the reality. I'm just cheering for something better.
well I guess russell is off the hook

But but his trust was violated by Russell. Swaggyp was the victim.

Man that story pissed me off at the time with so many people siding with this loser. Glad he's getting dumped and on the fast track to irrelevance. Enjoying getting buckets in the drew league doe.

Unbelievable. He's meeting with Portland, Dallas, and Miami. NOT US.

He'd be a great fit in Portland, FWIW.

Need a new direction with this team if cupcake is unable to attract talent this year.

The thing is, the guy is not good enough for all this worry / drama. They should do whatever it takes to dump him before the season starts. Russell's upside is SO much higher than this scrub.
