We are discussing a multi-year deal right now with DeSclafani according to Baggarly.

Should only get bonuses if he can beat the Dodgers.

Don't understand how we don't get these Japanese players. SF is a massive market for Asians

As is Seattle, but no doubt we need to capitalize here

I don't think the previous regime really made serious efforts to sign Japanese players. To be fair, more often than not they ended up falling short of the hype. Ohtani chose the Angels because he wanted to be in the LA market and play with guys like Trout and Pujols.

If you think about it, if they're bold enough to move to America they probably aren't prioritizing cultural familiarity too highly. I think opportunity to build a legacy is the most attractive thing, along with money obviously.

Hopefully Suzuki's priorities are to play in a great city with great fans and have a chance to win. Hes not going to be playing alongside any legends or maximizing his statistical output here.

One last award to finish off a HOF career. Now he has to return next year to accept it in front of the fans.
A little off topic, but it looks like they updated Buster's card in MLB The Show:

Kapler extended to 2024.
