San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw for a franchise-record 4,280 yards last season, leading the team to the Super Bowl and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. He held onto the football 39 times on the ground, rushing for 144 yards and scoring twice. This marked a significant improvement over his rookie 2022 campaign when he had 22 carries for 13 yards and a score.

Purdy further displayed his athleticism during the 49ers' playoff game against the Detroit Lions last season, helping engineer a comeback victory while rushing for 48 yards on five carries.

On Tuesday morning, Purdy joined the "Pat McAfee Show," acknowledging that he believes he can contribute more rushing yards if called upon. However, that decision rests with head coach Kyle Shanahan, who designs and calls the plays.

"I mean, if it happens, it happens," Purdy said. "Scrambling and all that, I'm all for it. But hopefully, Kyle's watching this and we can put in some zone read and have [some more run plays]."

This week, Purdy and his teammates reported for the start of the 49ers' offseason program. The next two weeks will include team meetings and strength and conditioning work. Purdy knows that NFL success involves continuous hard work.

When asked about his offseason goals, Purdy responded, "Obviously, continue to work on my arm and just mobility with my body and self. And maybe just get a little bit more agile with speed and all that. But physically, there's always going to be more room for improvement, so that's where I'm attacking this offseason."

Purdy added, "And just the playbook. Like I said, it's something that you got to continue to study and work at and to get better with how Kyle sees the game. If you're on point with who's calling the plays and why he's calling them, then I feel like our relationship can continue to grow, and then we can really be a dominant force in this league."

Purdy also shared the story of how he may have saved a Bay Area news anchor and her dog from a coyote during his recent John Deere commercial shoot. You can hear the quarterback's comments on that below.

Below are the rest of the clips from Purdy's interview on the "Pat McAfee Show."
