49ers’ Brock Purdy reveals how long it took to refocus on football after Super Bowl loss

Brock Purdy continues to work hard to prepare for the upcoming season. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback has been focused on improving for most of the offseason. It can be tough to get back into the right mindset after a heartbreaking season-ending defeat like the one the Niners suffered in Super Bowl LVIII.

Purdy did take some time off to clear his head, but not as much as you might think.

"I took a week," Purdy recently said in an interview for Recover Organic Hydration 180. "Went back home for my buddy's wedding in Arizona, and then I got back to California. And I have footballs in my room, so I was already just envisioning, 'All right, when am I going to get back after it?'

"So obviously, it didn't end how we wanted it to, but for us moving forward, that gives us a taste in our mouth, like, 'All right, we were right there, and we've got to finish.' So for me, it gives me some fuel to the fire for training."

When asked if he ever thinks about taking any days off, Purdy responded, "No, you can't, not in this league.

Although, there was one exception this offseason.

"Yeah, I got married," Purdy stated. "That was a day off. It was awesome. Got to marry my best friend, and we get to do life together."

Purdy mentioned that his offseason focus has been on improving his speed and mobility. This offseason has allowed him to work on those aspects, unlike last year when he was recovering from surgery to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow, which sidelined him during the 49ers' entire offseason program.

The additional work this year has been beneficial. Purdy appreciates collaborating with head coach Kyle Shanahan, reviewing film, and then practicing those concepts with his teammates on the field.

"Last year, I didn't have that, so now that I'm able to attack those kinds of things, I feel like I've gotten better," Purdy declared.
