The San Francisco 49ers have announced the signing of OL Andrew Gardner to a one-year deal. To make room on the roster, the team waived OL Josh Allen.

Gardner was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Following his stint with Miami (2009-10), where he appeared in 27 games and started 11, he has also spent time with the Baltimore Ravens (2010), Minnesota Vikings (2010), Cincinnati Bengals (2010-11), Houston Texans (2011-13) and Philadelphia Eagles (2014-15).

During his time in Philadelphia, where Chip Kelly was his head coach, Gardner appeared in 19 games and started 11. After spending training camp with the Eagles, he was released by the team on August 28.

Allen had been claimed off of waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 12. He was inactive against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
