Hyde had an MRI today to access the extent of the injury that he suffered during the 49ers' victory against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Hyde tore his MCL and will miss the team's final game of the season.
Hyde was hit by cornerback E.J. Gaines following a catch. The hit caused the 49ers running back to fumble the football and Rams defensive lineman Morgan Fox recovered. The Rams would score on the ensuing drive to take a 14-point lead, but San Francisco came storming back to win 22-21.
Following the play, Hyde needed assistance to leave the field and then left for the 49ers locker room to be evaluated. He was walking under his own power, but with a limp.
"I'm praying it's not serious," Hyde had told reporters following the win at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. "It didn't feel that bad. It was pain but I've felt worse. That's why I was able to get up and walk off on my own."
In the first quarter, quarterback Colin Kaepernick connected with Hyde on a 19-yard touchdown pass. It was Hyde's third touchdown reception of the season and the most by a 49ers running back since Frank Gore had three in 2009.
