In Baalke's defense, the official band page reminded fans that the general manager won Executive of the Year for the 2011 season, helped the team to a Super Bowl appearance and two division championships in five years.
Of course, some might argue that Baalke was mostly riding a team that was built by the previous regime and has since decimated the once-talented roster. To counter that argument, Smash Mouth says that Baalke's first season as general manager was during the strike and he basically had a matter of days to sign 10 key players.
"Scot [McCloughan] was a mess," they said via Twitter. "Baalke was head of Player Personnel at that time overseeing then cleaning up Scot's mess."
The Twitter page went on to claim that Harbaugh left a mess in San Francisco with part of that being Kaepernick who they say "can't throw and refuses to be a student." Smash Mouth says that it was not Baalke's fault that the team did not make the playoffs in Harbaugh's last year because of the team was stacked and places all of the blame on Kaepernick being the quarterback. They say that it was not Baalke who pulled Alex Smith, who was "finally paying off for the 49ers," in favor of Kaepernick.
The Twitter page went on to say that Harbaugh lost half his team in 2014 and those players went to Baalke about it, insinuating that player complaints resulted in the firing of Harbaugh and not a difference of opinion between the general manager and the former head coach as has been widely reported.
They also believe that if head coach Chip Kelly gets another shot, then so should Baalke who can use the upcoming draft to pinpoint Kelly's needs on offense rather than being limited to just the 2016 NFL Draft.
There is more on their official Twitter page. As of this writing, they are still at it defending Baalke so there is a lot of good stuff there whether you agree with the opinions or not.
