The San Francisco 49ers are moving fast in their search to fill the general manager vacancy left by the firing of Trent Baalke. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the 49ers have requested permission to interview Kansas City Chiefs director of football operations Chris Ballard. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team has requested permission to interview New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio.



Yesterday, the 49ers also kicked off their search for a new head coach by becoming one of three teams to request an interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. The other teams are the Los Angeles Rams and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
