While he is currently the youngest coordinator in the league, the hiring of McVay, who is only 30, would make him the NFL's youngest-ever head coach. "McVay's supporters, however, insist his football age far outstrips his calendar age," wrote Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee in a great piece about McVay.
McVay began his NFL coaching career in 2008 as an offensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had served as the tight ends coach and assistant tight ends coach with Washington. McVay then became the offensive coordinator in 2014. This past season, McVay guided a Washington offense that was ranked third in total offense and second in passing.

Silver also believes that the two Green Bay Packers executives that interviewed with the 49ers are the leading candidates for the vacant general manager position. Yesterday, Silver stated the 49ers were impressed with Packers director of football operations Eliot Wolf and director of player personnel Brian Gutekunst. Our own Al Sacco says that the Packers looking at Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey looks like a sign that Green Bay is expecting one or both of their executives to leave.
