On Friday, Michael Silver of NFL Media speculated that Houston head coach Bill O'Brien could be available to the San Francisco 49ers if the Texans were to lose to the New England Patriots on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Texans killed that rumor. "Texans brass has made it clear to teams during the coaching search process that they won't lose Bill O'Brien, just as they've said publicly they won't fire him (Saturday)," reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

The 49ers are the lone team remaining with a head coach vacancy. While New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan remain the favorites, the team will interview Seattle Seahawks assistant head coach and offensive line coach Tom Cable on Sunday.

Rapoport: Keep an eye on Tom Cable, Josh McDaniels for 49ers opening

"[Cable] is very well regarded," said Rapoport. "(Former Seahawks running back) Marshawn Lynch's guy. He does have a legitimate chance to land this job."
