After spending three seasons as the running backs coach for the Detroit Lions, Curtis Modkins spent one season as Chip Kelly's offensive coordinator in San Francisco. With Kelly gone, Modkins is expected to join the Chicago Bears as their running backs coach, per Adam Caplan of ESPN.

With Kelly handling the play calling this past season, Modkins' role was limited to game plan preparation in coordination with the head coach. Modkins has been a running backs coach with the Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals, and Lions.
