"When it comes to stars in this industry, Adam Peters is certainly one of them," said new 49ers general manager John Lynch via a statement issued by the team. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from two incredibly successful organizations, and is one of the most respected talent evaluators in the National Football League. I have known Adam for several years and have great confidence that his drive, work ethic and skill set will be instrumental to the 49ers organization. I know how much John Elway and the Broncos organization value and respect Adam, and I am very grateful that they have allowed him to pursue such a tremendous opportunity. We are thrilled to have Adam join the team and look forward to creating something special together."
Because Peters will not have full control over the 49ers roster, Elway and the Broncos could have blocked the move, but Lynch is good friends with the Denver general manager and the relationship between the two may have helped San Francisco acquire the highly qualified executive.
Prior to his previous role with Denver, Peters was the club's assistant director of college scouting from 2014 until 2015 following three years as a national scout and two seasons scouting the Western region for the Broncos. During his time in the NFL, he has been part of three Super Bowls.
"In his first seven years with Denver, Peters helped the team acquire 27 players through the draft and college free agency that were members of the Super Bowl 50 championship roster," says the official Broncos website.
Prior to his time in Denver, Peters spent six years (2003-08) with the New England Patriots. In his first two seasons with the Patriots as a scouting assistant, he was a part of two Super Bowl championships (XXXVIII in 2003 and XXXIX in 2004). In 2005, he handled pro scouting duties for the team before serving his final three seasons (2006-08) with the Patriots as an area scout.
