It was already known that Atlanta Falcons offensive assistant Mike LaFleur would be joining Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco. However, there was some confusion about what his role might be. Alex Marvez of the Sporting News is clarifying that by reporting that LaFleur will be joining the 49ers as the team's wide receivers coach.

The confusion occurred because Marvez originally reported on Monday that Mike McDaniel would be joining the 49ers as the team's wide receivers coach. Those are two different Mikes and it does not help that Mike LaFleur's brother, Matt LaFleur, was on the Falcons coaching staff. He served as their quarterbacks coach in 2016 and will be the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams in 2017.
