The workout with Watson will take place during a trip to North Carolina's pro day. "We're going out next week," Lynch said. "North Carolina has their pro day. Obviously, [Mitch] Trubisky's there but there's a lot of players. North Carolina's a very talented team so we'll have an opportunity to see a bunch then.
"We will have a workout with Deshaun Watson next week and then we'll stop back in South Bend. Notre Dame has their pro day and get a chance to see DeShone Kizer and his teammates."
"It's us and another team that are kind of sharing that workout," Lynch continued regarding the workout with Watson. "Those are really invaluable because there you get a chance to kind of run the workout and get to put him through the drills that you want to see and all those things."
The 49ers are in need of a quarterback of the future. The team signed former Chicago Bears quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley during the first two days of free agency but neither are seen as long-term solutions.
Every quarterback who was on the 49ers' roster last season is currently a free agent and the team is not expected to re-sign any of them. Lynch said on KNBR that the likelihood of the 49ers re-signing quarterback Colin Kaepernick has "gone down significantly" but the team continues to keep its options open.
As for Watson, the quarterback ended his collegiate career in dream fashion, winning a National Championship in the final seconds of the game with a game-winning touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow. He finished the game completing 36 of his 56 passes and throwing three touchdowns. Watson did not throw an interception against the defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide.
In two games against the Crimson Tide, both national title matchups, Watson has amassed 941 yards of total offense, thrown seven touchdowns, and just one interception against an Alabama defense that was in the discussion as one of the best ever.
In 2016, Watson completed 67.6-percent of his passes for 3,914 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. He has a career completion percentage of 68.4-percent.
