The San Francisco 49ers have announced the signing of former Denver Broncos LB Dekoda Watson to a three-year deal.

Watson was selected in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after having played college football at Florida State. The seven-year veteran has played in 89 games with seven starts and recorded 88 tackles, four sacks, four passes defended, four fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles. He has also had 50 tackles on special teams.

In 2016, Watson played in nine games for Denver and finished with six tackles and a team-high 11 special teams tackles. Prior to his time with the Broncos, Watson spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, and New England Patriots.

What is the 49ers coaching connection? 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was the linebackers coach in Jacksonville the one season (2014) that Watson was there.
