If the vote were to go in favor of the Raiders, they would likely have to remain in the Bay Area until their new stadium in Las Vegas is complete. Where would the Raiders play in the meantime? They still have a year on their lease at the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum with an option for 2018. However, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that one potential temporary home for the Raiders could be Levi's Stadium, which is home of the 49ers. The two teams could potentially share the stadium until the Raiders are ready to move to Las Vegas.
"One option, I'm told, is Levi's Stadium," Rapoport said Monday on NFL Network. "For 2019 – certainly is an option. For 2018 – believed to be an option as well. It's not something, from my understanding, that the Niners would oppose. They've been very vocal about welcoming the Raiders if that is necessary. So that would be a potential option for the Raiders if Las Vegas is not ready to actually join forces with the 49ers for a year or two."
The Raiders need 24 of the 32 NFL owner votes to win approval for the move to Las Vegas.
