Free agent running back DuJuan Harris will be returning to the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal, reports the Sacramento Bee and his agent.

Last season, Harris carried the ball just 38 times for 138 yards with the 49ers but also added 115 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions. He was on and off the roster all season, finally being promoted to the active roster on October 22. Harris did not make the team's final roster in September and was released and signed to the team's practice squad twice after that.

Initially, Harris was a late-season addition by the 49ers in 2015 – being signed from the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. He rushed for 140 yards on 27 carries in the final two games of that season.

Harris, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2011 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, has also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, and Ravens.

The 49ers had free agent running back Tim Hightower in for a visit on March 16, but so far, nothing has come from that.

In 2016, the 49ers offense ranked fourth in the NFL in rushing yards, averaging over 126 yards per game.
