According to police records, Brock was arrested in Santa Clara on a domestic violence charge early on Friday. He was booked into the Santa Clara County jail and later released after posting bail. "According to the Santa Clara Police Department, police found 'visible injuries' on Brock's girlfriend after responding to a domestic violence call Thursday at 9:35 p.m," reported Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. The injuries to the woman were described as "minor" and reportedly did not need medical attention.
Brock declined to discuss the arrest with the media while departing Santa Clara County jail. "I ain't got nothing to say to you," he told a reporter from ABC Bay Area News.
Brock started all 16 games at cornerback for the team in 2016. He spent his entire career with the 49ers after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent out of Belhaven in 2010. Over seven seasons with San Francisco, Brock had 181 tackles, 11 interceptions, a touchdown, and two forced fumbles. In 2016, Brock was the 49ers' top graded defensive back and the third-highest graded defensive player by Pro Football Focus.
While the 49ers have had numerous players arrested in recent years, this was the first since John Lynch took the job as the team's new general manager. Most recently was the arrest of ex-49ers fullback Bruce Miller in September on charges of aggravated assault, elder abuse, threats, and battery.
Miller had been trying to make the roster as a tight end in ex-49ers head coach Chip Kelly's offense but was released following his arrest.
It is important to note that the 49ers hosted Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore this week in Santa Clara. The former Buckeye is expected to be the top cornerback selected in the upcoming draft. The 49ers currently own the second overall selection.
