A number of NFL players took part in an arm wrestling event in Las Vegas over the weekend. Among them was San Francisco 49ers linebacker, NaVorro Bowman. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Monday that all of the NFL players who participated in the event will be disciplined by the NFL for violating the league's policy barring players from taking part in events held at casinos.

The Pro Football Arm Wrestling Championship took place from April 5-9 at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and featured 32 players split into two teams. The event will be aired on CBS on May 27, 28, and June 3. All three shows, which feature different portions of the event, will air at 11 a.m. Pacific on their respective dates.

Other players who took part include Miami Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills, New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung, Dallas Cowboys receiver Lucky Whitehead, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison and center Maurkice Pouncey, and Oakland Raiders defensive end Mario Edwards and punter Marquette King.

Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch also took part in the event, per Pro Football Talk, but he is not currently on an NFL roster and is still technically retired.


Of course, what makes this really interesting is that the league recently approved a move by the Oakland Raiders to relocate to a new stadium near the Las Vegas Strip. With an NFL team set to call Las Vegas home by the year 2020 – possibly sooner – it will be interesting to see how the NFL handles these types of issues in the years to come.
