VCU basketball star Mo Alie-Cox has just completed his pro day as he hopes to transition from basketball to an NFL tight end. He was eligible for the 2016 NFL Draft but was not selected, which makes him a free agent and free to immediately sign with any NFL team.

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound prospect performed tight end and defensive end drills in front of 28 NFL teams, per Peter Schrager of FOX Sports and NFL Network's "Good Morning Football." Five NFL tight end coaches were among those represented at the noon workout in Richmond, Virginia.

The San Francisco 49ers were in attendance according to Lane Casadonte of WTVR and WDCW. Others have successfully made the transition from basketball to football, including Antonio Gates, Julius Thomas, and Jimmy Graham.

"He's a freak of nature," ex-VCU coach Will Wade told the Richmond Times-Dispatch in March. "That's why he's going to play in the NFL or wherever he wants to play."

"I played football for nine years growing up," Alie-Cox told Sporting News in March of 2016. "I think I've still played football, the amount of years, longer than I played basketball. So growing up, that was something I always wanted to do. But I transferred to private school, we had like 200 kids, we didn't have a football team. So I just had to focus on basketball, and basketball is what brought me here."
