The San Francisco 49ers hosted Indiana guard Dan Feeney, per NFL Draft Diamonds. While they state that Feeney is "visiting" with the 49ers, we have to assume that the visit has already occurred since teams were no longer allowed to host draft prospects beyond Wednesday.

Feeney is not from the Bay Area. That means that he counts against the 49ers' limit of 30 hosted players. The 49ers are permitted to host up to 30 players for visits at the team's headquarters in Santa Clara, California. Visitors to the team's headquarters are not allowed to work out for the team unless they are local prospects.

Feeney started all 12 games at right guard for Indiana as a true freshman. A foot injury caused him to miss the 2013 season but he returned the next year. He allowed no sacks during his junior year, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors. During his senior year, he earned first-team All-American/Big Ten accolades.

Feeney has experience at right guard, which is his natural position, and right tackle, which he played at times during his senior year due to injuries at the position.

Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Feeney to Clint Boling, had the following to say in his scouting report:

"Four-year starter and two-time team captain, Feeney has been the consistent anchor along an Indiana offensive line that helped to produce NFL running backs Tevin Coleman and Jordan Howard. Feeney is a quality zone blocker with an ability to pull and lead the charge, but he might lack the play strength to become a reliable base blocker. His intelligence and ability to operate in space and protect the quarterback could make him an early starter with a ceiling of above-average NFL guard or center."

Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst had the following to say in his scouting report:

"Feeney was a tremendous college lineman and consistently dominated opponents. He had a terrific week during Senior Bowl practices lining up at both guard and center and moves towards the draft as one of the most NFL-ready blockers available."
