The San Francisco 49ers were busy early and late in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. They were part of two trades on Thursday night.

Trade One


The first trade was between the 49ers, who originally had the second overall selection, and the Chicago Bears, who originally had the third overall selection. The two teams swapped first-round picks and the 49ers also acquired three additional picks in the deal. They were a 2017 third-round pick (67), a 2017 fourth-round pick (111), and a 2018 third-round pick. Chicago went on to select North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the second selection in the draft.

The 49ers selected Stanford defensive end Solomon Thomas with the third overall pick.

Trade Two


The second trade of the night was at the end of the first round. Their trade partner was the division rival Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers moved up from the 34th overall selection, which was the second pick of the second round, to move back into the first round. With the 31st overall selection, the 49ers selected Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster.

To move up four spots, the 49ers gave up their original second-round selection (34) and the fourth-round selection (111) that they acquired during the first trade with Chicago.
