Thomas weighed almost 200 pounds in fourth grade and he blames some of that on his love of video games while growing up. "I kind of got a little obsessed with XBOX," Thomas said. He got into better shape after being tired of not being one of the better sports players on the playground at school.
"I just kind of strayed away from video games because I had a bad experience with them at a young age," Thomas said, referring to being overweight when he was younger. "I tried to get away from them. I'm more of a movie guy. I like movies and TV shows. I'm huge on Star Wars. I love music. I love listening to music that has a message in it. I really love Beyoncé's music, which some people think is weird because I'm a guy. I'm a strong and faithful fan to her."
Thomas went on to say that he likes all kinds of styles of music, including country. Another tidbit from the interview was Thomas' love of a specific board game.
"We started playing a lot of Connect Four," Thomas said. "We had ridiculous Connect Four tournaments in our dorm room last year. Between watching film and movies, we had Connect Four. We'd have the scoresheet out that Christian [McCaffrey] made. We would just go at it. It got pretty intense. The board almost broke a couple of times."
Thomas went on to admit that McCaffrey was the better player. He was told that he can settle that score during the opening week of the 2017 season when the 49ers host the Carolina Panthers, which are McCaffrey's new team. "You can drill him coming into the hole and say, 'Connect Four mother -- Boom!'"
Thomas seemed to like that idea.
