San Francisco 49ers rookie LB Donavin Newsom is reportedly "doing fine" and will be released from Stanford Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon. He collided with S Chanceller James while breaking up a pass during team drills in the final minutes of Tuesday's practice and remained down for over 10 minutes. It was an injury that required the linebacker to be taken off the practice field on a stretcher and transported to Stanford Medical Center via an ambulance.

Later that day, the 49ers public relations department released a statement saying that Newsom suffered a concussion and that there were no cervical spine fractures.

The San Francisco 49ers released Wednesday's player participation report leading into practice at 10:15 a.m.

CB Dontae Johnson also suffered a concussion during Tuesday's practice and is in the league mandated concussion protocol this week. He, obviously, will not practice on Wednesday and is unlikely to be available for the team's preseason matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday.

CB Keith Reaser replaced Johnson on the first-team defense during practice following Tuesday's injury.

S Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) will be a full participant during practice.
