"We've got to find out more about it," Shanahan told the media following the game. "I'm not sure whether it was high or low, so we've got to find out more about him fast."
Shanahan went on to say that he was unsure if the injury was related to the ankle injury that Buckner had been dealing with during training camp.

Shanahan also gave updates on three other 49ers players. Wide receiver Aaron Burbridge, defensive lineman Ronald Blair, and newly signed linebacker Sean Porter all appeared to suffer injuries during the game.
"I know Burbridge had a hammy," Shanahan said. "I don't know the severity of it but I know he wasn't good enough to come back in the game. Blair hurt his groin. I don't know the severity of that either. I don't think it's anything too serious. Porter went out with his quad."
At one point during the second half, the 49ers medical staff had gathered around defensive lineman Solomon Thomas and appeared to be looking at his shoulder. However, Shanahan was unaware of any injury to Thomas and the rookie was able to return to the game shortly thereafter.
