The San Francisco 49ers lost their fifth-straight game on Sunday – falling short in overtime to the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 26-23. The loss marks the fourth-straight by three-or-fewer points and the second-straight in overtime.

Quarterback Brian Hoyer completed 29 of his 46 passes for 353 yards, two touchdowns, and a passer rating of 101.1. His 353 passing yards were the second-most single-game total of his career. Hoyer had 12 completions of 10-or-more yards downfield against the Colts, according to Pro Football Focus. Prior to Sunday, he had just 17 through four games.

Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin had five receptions for 116 yards, which was a single-game career high and just his second career game with over 100 yards receiving.

Tight end George Kittle finished the game with seven receptions for 83 yards and the first touchdown of his career. He is the first 49ers tight end to pull in seven-or-more receptions in a game since Vernon Davis had eight in October of 2016 against the Arizona Cardinals. While Kittle had a career day catching the football, his Pro Football Focus run grade for the game was a lowly 31.5.


How bad was the run support for the 49ers? Running back Carlos Hyde had just 11 yards on eight carries against the Colts. However, he had 16 rushing yards after contact, according to Pro Football Focus. That means a lot of getting hit behind the line of scrimmage for the 49ers' starting running back.

"Offensive weapon" Kyle Juszczyk played a season-high 35 snaps with 27 coming at fullback.

Kicker Robbie Gould has made each of his 14 field goal attempts this season. On Sunday, he connected from 28, 43, and 40 yards away. Gould is the first 49ers kicker to make each of his first 14 field goal attempts with the previous record being set by Wade Richey, who had 13 straight to start the 1999 season. Gould has now made 31 consecutive field goals dating back to 2015, which is the longest active streak in the NFL.

The 49ers defense had four sacks on Sunday. Edge defender Elvis Dumervil had 1.5, which increased his career total to 102.5 and is tied for the 28th-most all-time.

Linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong, who picked off a Jacoby Brissett pass in overtime, has an interception in each of his past two games. He had one last week against the Cardinals.


Cornerback Rashard Robinson allowed just one catch for 15 yards with two passes defensed after being targeted six times, according to Pro Football Focus.

Cornerback Dontae Johnson didn't fare as well and allowed seven catches on eight targets for 127 yards, according to Pro Football Focus.

Colts running back Frank Gore had 48 yards rushing against his former team. That puts him at 13,304 rushing yards over his career, which ranks him seventh on the all-time rushing list – surpassing Eric Dickerson.
