Rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard replaced Brian Hoyer in the second quarter. Beathard went on to complete 19 of 36 pass attempts for 245 yards and a touchdown. His first career touchdown pass came on a 45-yard pass to wide receiver Aldrick Robinson.
Beathard completed just three of his 9 pass attempts for 13 yards while under pressure. He completed three of his seven pass attempts for 98 yards, a touchdown, and an interception on throws of 20-or-more yards downfield. Beathard's Pro Football Focus quarterback rating ranked ninth among quarterbacks during Week 6.
Running back Carlos Hyde had two rushing touchdowns in the game, which increased his season total to four and career total to 16.
The 49ers defense missed 17 tackles against Washington, which brings its season total to 59. That number is the second-most in the NFL this season with only the Los Angeles Chargers (61) having more.
Rookie defensive lineman Solomon Thomas got to the quarterback for the second time this season when he brought down Cousins for a five-yard loss. Thomas ended the day credited with five run stops.
Second-year defensive lineman DeForest Buckner continued his strong season and had a quarterback hit and five hurries against Cousins.
In his first start for the 49ers, linebacker Brock Coyle struggled in coverage, allowing six catches on seven targets for 77 yards and a touchdown. Linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong allowed all five of his targets to come away with the football and gain 136 yards against the defense.
Cornerback Rashard Robinson intercepted Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins. It was Robinson's second interception of his career.
Kicker Robbie Gould set a franchise record for consecutive field goals made to begin a season. He made each of his first 15 attempts this season.
