Wide receiver Louis Murphy was part of the San Francisco 49ers final roster cut-down before the start of the regular season. According to Universal Sports and Entertainment Management, the 6-foot-2 receiver is returning to the 49ers.


Murphy, 30, initially joined the 49ers on July 31. He entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2009. In eight years as an NFL player, Murphy has spent time with the Raiders (2009-11), Carolina Panthers (2012), New York Giants (2013), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2014-16). He has appeared in 88 games with 28 starts. During his NFL career, Murphy has accumulated 162 receptions for 2,322 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Rookie receiver Trent Taylor did not finish Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals due to a rib injury. On Saturday, the 49ers placed leading receiver Pierre Garçon on injured reserve with a neck injury.
