San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was supposed to be the deep threat for the offense this season. So far in 2017, Goodwin has been shut out of the end zone. That ended on Sunday against the New York Giants.

With the 49ers down 6-3 in the second quarter, rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard found Goodwin deep and hit him for the 83-yard touchdown. The play came during a drive that followed a fumble by Giants quarterback Eli Manning on a sack by defensive end Ronald Blair. Safety Eric Reid recovered the football.

Goodwin was emotional after the score.

The score put the 49ers ahead 10-6, which was their second lead of the game. However, on the ensuing drive, the Giants took a 13-10 lead.
