"It never was the plan," Shanahan said. "As I told you guys, I'm taking it week by week, so I don't have to put really pause on anything."
Shanahan said the coaching staff would continue to work with Garoppolo over the bye week and he works to learn the playbook. The coaches will rotate to work with the quarterback to get him ready to play – just not necessarily right after the bye. The quarterback evaluation will continue when Garoppolo and C.J. Beathard return from the team's time off.
"That's not my plan," Shanahan said when asked about the Schefter report. "I don't have a plan yet. There's no way anything you guys hear reported could be accurate because I just told you guys our plan, which is: we're going to evaluate when it gets to that time. It depends where Jimmy's at, at that time. I know C.J. got banged up today also with his thumb again, so we'll see where he's at. But we'll deal with that Monday when we come in here next week."
The 49ers host the Seahawks at Levi's Stadium on November 26.
