On Wednesday morning, Foster joined KNBR and explained why there is still so much excitement in the 49ers locker room this season despite the team having just one win.
The rookie linebacker was used to winning during his time at Alabama. Foster was asked if it was strange to be celebrating one win when he comes from a college program where anything less than a championship was a disappointment.
"Let me be honest, it did feel weird," Foster said on the "Murph & Mac" show. "But at the same time, it felt awesome because you know where the potential of this 49ers (team) is going to be ... The potential that this 49ers team is going to have in the future? Oh, my God. It's crazy. You can't help but to be positive."
Despite the 49ers' disappointing record, there has been a different vibe from the players and coaches. The team appears to believe in the organization, which was rejuvenated upon the hiring of general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Growing pains were expected this season, but Lynch and Shanahan have drawn praises throughout the early process of the massive rebuild.
Foster also discussed the newest quarterback on the roster, Jimmy Garoppolo. He hasn't had the pleasure of intercepting Garoppolo yet during practice.
"He's a pretty good player," Foster said. "He drops it on a dime. Did I pick Jimmy yet? No, I don't think I picked him yet."
Foster believes the team will benefit from Garoppolo, who learned from the great Tom Brady in New England.
