"It is a bruise on his leg," Rapoport said on "Good Morning Football." "He also was complaining after the game of hip issues. He's going to have an MRI today after taking that awkward hit and really going down in what looked like to be a lot of pain.
"There is a possibility, based on the results of the MRI and how he's feeling, that Beathard is not able to practice maybe Wednesday, maybe Thursday, opening the door for Jimmy Garoppolo to come in, get the first-team reps, and be prepared to play.
"And that preparation is big because Kyle Shanahan has said over and over, they're not going to put Garoppolo out there until he can protect himself and he is ready to run the game plan. All that could come together and happen this week."
Shanahan is expected to give an update on Beathard at 4 p.m. on Monday when he addresses reporters during his weekly press conference.
"I'm feeling alright," Beathard said following the 49ers' loss. "Yeah, I'll be alright."
Rapoport mentioned an injury to Beathard's hip, which the quarterback did mention following the game, but it was related to the hit to his knee.
"I just had thrown the ball, and a guy went into my knee," Beathard said. "I just felt it up into my hip. That's all I really remember from the play."
However, the quarterback wasn't exactly sure of the extent of the injury or whether it was his knee or hip.
"I don't know," Beathard answered when asked about the location of the injury. "We'll see tomorrow I guess."
The quarterback is eager to get back onto the football field for the 49ers. Beathard was able to walk around following the game and didn't look too bad while speaking to reporters during a post-game press conference. If the injury is to his knee, Beathard doesn't believe it is severe.
"I'm trying to get back out there as soon as possible," Beathard said. "Obviously, I don't think anything's torn or anything like that. It doesn't feel like it."
